The procession to the Saint most beloved by the people of Lisbon traveled through the streets of Alfama accompanied by thousands of people who, along the way, cheered Saint Anthony. Along the streets, various saints joined in: Saint John the Baptist, Saint Michael, Saint Stephen, Saint Vincent, and Saint James. The Saint Anthony procession has been taking place in this format since the 1980s, but there are records from before the 1755 earthquake.
