In The Footsteps of Wonhyo

The film "In the Footsteps of Wonhyo" depicts a 500 kilometer journey by retired Canadian journalist Tony MacGregor. MacGregor crossed the Korean Peninsula in an attempt to understand the awakening experience of the eccentric Korean monk Wonhyo. Wonhyo, perhaps the most beloved of all Korean Buddhist saints, walked across the peninsula in the seventh century and found enlightenment in a cave on the western side of the peninsula. MacGregor's journey, which involved staying at mountain monasteries and talking to monks, was the first in over 1.000 years to honor Wonhyo's accomplishment.
