Napoli - for Euphonium Solo and Brass Quintet
Napoli is one of the most popular pieces from famed cornet soloist and composer, Herman Bellstedt. A pioneer of solo cornet performance, Bellstedt performed with the famous bands of John Philip Sousa and Patrick Gilmore, sitting alongside another virtuoso of the times, Herbert L. Clarke. This solo, collated and arranged by his student, Frank Simon, in 1932, is a theme and variations solo on the theme "Funiculi, Funicula" from Italian composer Luigi Denza. This setting has become a standard in both the trumpet and euphonium repertoire and is a favorite of many soloists because of its technical demonstration, light-hearted tunefulness, and well rounded virtuosic opportunities. Performed live by Staff Sgt. Patrick Nyren and Federal Brass on May 14, 2020. http://www.armyfieldband.com / armyfieldband / armyfieldband / armyfieldband / armyfieldband / thesixstringsoldiers For more information visit our website or contact: The United States Army Field Band 4214 Field Band Drive STE 5330 Fort Meade, Maryland 20755-7055 #euphonium #brassquintet #band
