Sierra Leone-Self-proclaimed head of state Koroma

(10 Jun 1997) T/I: 11:13:23 Sierra Leone's coup leaders have threatened to banish the media on Tuesday (10/6) after reports that they are enlisting the support of Libya. Rebel leader Johnny Koroma is claiming that the situation is beginning to return to normal. Koroma has spoken with United Nations secretary general Kofi Annan about the situation in the country, stressing that he wants peace to be restored. Meanwhile, foreigners still wait to be evacuated and are currently receiving food aid from Red Cross workers.
