Ep. 162 HANGING A GLASS EXHIBIT + MORE TINY FLORAL MOSAIC PENDANTS & THE MOSAIC TULIPS Hey Everyone! It was a weird week with the holiday on Tuesday, but I did get a bit done in the studio. 1:29 I pack my car, with the biggest mosaic, Nymphaea laying flat. Nothing is wrapped in packing material as I just pulled these off my wall and I'm only going 30 minutes down the road. I also pack a bag of things I might need - tape, rags, glass cleaner, band-aids, scissors, etc. 2:20 I've arrived at the Smyrna Public Library in Smyrna, GA. I show the load in access and my cart. 2:52 Introducing Margery Keller, a stained glass artist. She is the other half of our Glimmer exhibit. First, we place our pieces on the floor and when we are happy with the layout, we will hang each piece of art. We have to add our labels to the hanging stems that come down since the library does not want us to damage the walls by taping onto the wall. 4:25 I give a quick walk through, showing how we hung it. Then I go a bit slower and show Margery's work. 6:40 BONUS!!! Teresa Barnes, fused glass artist, has work on display in some cases! The Friends of the Smyrna Library sponsored the exhibit and was instrumental in providing images, measurements, information, access, carts, and a level (why didn't I think of that?!?) for the installation. It ended up taking less than an hour - YAY! 7:58 Next up: a pendant with rudbekia, or black-eyed susans. Why rudbekia? Because it is blooming in my garden right now and it reminds me of my mother, whose name is Susan! 9:09 Back at the big pink tulips, I'm tackling the background. My main concern is to use some of my pretty glass in purples and teals with a touch of pink. Then I step back and take a look at it to make sure it is working. It is! 12:37 The pendants are calling me! This time I start with some itty bitty fiddly bits in purple, inspired by the blue salvia in my garden near the rudbekia. I LOVE the combination!!!
