LJ's BBQ ... Better than Blue Bell

s LJ’s BBQ better than Blue Bell? That may sound like a dangerous question to ask in Brenham, Texas—but Gamae’ asked it anyway! On this Bear Pa Trax BBQ adventure, we stopped at LJ’s BBQ, one of Texas Monthly’s Top 50 BBQ Joints, to see whether it lived up to the reputation. We tried the brisket, two different kinds of pork ribs, mac and cheese, and a braised cabbage that surprised Bear Pa more than anything else on the tray. And considering Bear Pa normally tries to maintain a safe distance from vegetables, that is saying something! Our scores: 🥩 Brisket: 9.5 out of 10 🐖 Pork ribs: 10 out of 10 🐖 The other pork ribs: Another 10 out of 10 🧀 Mac and cheese: Delicious 🥬 Braised cabbage: Shockingly good! We also had the opportunity to talk with pitmaster Matt Lowry. He told us that one of the secrets behind LJ’s great barbecue is simply taking the time needed with every piece of meat and refusing to serve it until it meets their standards. That patience certainly showed up on our plates. So, is LJ’s BBQ really better than Blue Bell? Come along with Bear Pa and Gamae’ as we taste our way through one of Brenham’s best-known barbecue destinations. Tell us in the comments: What would you order first—the brisket, the ribs, or that surprisingly amazing cabbage? The coffee’s hot, the camera’s rollin’, and yep… chaos is guaranteed! #LJsBBQ #TexasBBQ #BearPaTrax #BrenhamTexas #TexasMonthlyTop50 #BBQReview #TexasBarbecue #Brisket #PorkRibs #BBQLovers
