Luna Lapin by machine - 1b Tracing your pattern and placement on your fabric
Please watch all section 1 videos before you start to cut out your fabric. In retrospect there are tips across all of the section one videos that will help you feel confident for this stage. In this video I show you how to trace your pattern pieces from the book. You will then use the pattern pieces to cut out your fabric. This keeps your book pages intact for other projects (and in fact the book pages are printed on both sides so you need to trace the pattern designs out.) You can buy tracing paper or if you have greaseproof or baking paper at home you can use that as long as you can see the printed outline of the pattern piece from underneath your tracing paper. The use of a light box or holding your page up to the window can help with tracing if you only have access to thicker paper. I stick my pattern pieces onto card (cereal packets or card from a stationers are both OK) so that you have a more robust template that you can use time and again. Remember that some pattern pieces need to be 'mirrored' this means you need a left facing piece and a right facing piece, to acheive this cut one fabric piece with the pattern facing upwards and then flip the pattern piece over before cutting the second piece. Hopefully it's explained more thoroughly in the video! The books containing the patterns for Luna and friends, felt and other supplies plus character kits and supplies are available directly from the designer and the home of Luna Lapin at www.coolcrafting.co.uk
