Forgotten Roman Crimea 2: Isar Kiziltash and the Road to Roman-Kosh – Where Are the Legionnaires' Traces Hidden? This route begins at the foot of the mountains, in the village of Krasnokamenka, and leads us ever higher – to ancient fortifications, mysterious sanctuaries, and peaks from which the entire history of Crimea can be seen. On the way is Isar Kiziltash, a fortress on the edge of a cliff. Tauro-Scythian, possibly Roman. One of the peninsula's least-known "isars." Further on is the Romanov Road, built by Mennonites and a site of fighting during the Great Patriotic War. We ascend to the Gurzuf Saddle, a mountain sanctuary, and finally to the summit of Roman-Kosh to survey the route of ancient roads and view Crimea from an altitude of 1,545 meters. 🎙️ This journey is more than just a hike.
