Want to know what these details are? Stay with me in this video and I'll show you Cool, the Chemex is a method that most people think is beautiful, it has a different aesthetic, but the question is: Does it make good coffee? The Chemex is a percolation method, just like the V60, that is, you add water and wait for it to pass through the coffee. I noticed that the texture of the coffee is smoother than that of the V60 and less acidic. With the Chemex you can expect a very clean and sweet coffee. It's a method that has no mystery when it comes to preparation, but if you don't know a few small details you could end up in trouble. But don't worry, I'll tell you everything. These details are on the Chemex filter. The first thing you need to know is that this filter is VERY thick. And that's why the Chemex takes longer to pass the coffee than the V60. Just to give you an idea, a V60 filter, the 02, which is the medium size, weighs on average 1.6g. The Chemex filter weighs an average of 5.3g. That's a lot of paper. And what does that mean? First point: you have to scald the Chemex filter very well so that it doesn't taste like paper in your coffee. Seriously, when I scald the Chemex filter, a very strong smell comes out. So be careful with that. Second point: to fit the filter into the Chemex, in addition to the paper being naturally thick, one side has three sheets and the other one. You'll find out why later. But the point is that because it's a very thick filter, be careful with finer grinds. The Chemex will take longer to pass through your coffee, so if you use a grind that's too fine, your coffee may taste bitter. I'm not telling you to grind your coffee like gravel, but try to use a medium, medium-coarse grind. Kisses to you, Thales Fernandes.
