Afinal, O QUE É ESTÉTICA? | Áreas da Filosofia

This video is part of the INTERLUDES series with Bruno Soares — essays between psychoanalysis and philosophy. So, what is AESTHETICS? This question invites us to consider the very notions of beauty, ugliness, and the sublime. All these notions relate to a feeling of something pleasant or unpleasant. And even more so. Ultimately, it's about thinking about our own sensibility. For here lies the most interesting aspect of aesthetics: knowing our own sensitive capacity. And with this, all aesthetic reflection comes very close to what is called the Philosophy of Art, or reflecting philosophically on art. But a philosopher is not (necessarily) an artist, and an artist is not (necessarily) a philosopher. Herein lies a point as delicate as art and aesthetics. To think about and reflect on art and the very notion of beauty through philosophy and art. Without this care, one easily loses more than one gains. #philosophy #aesthetics #areasofphilosophy ____________ Chapters 00:00 Introduction 02:26 The meaning of the word aesthetics 05:04 Baumgarten and Aesthetics 06:33 Art: essentialism and contextualism 09:43 Who can speak about Art: artists or philosophers? 11:53 Aesthetics as the cultivation of sensitivity 14:53 After all, what is Aesthetics for? ____________
