2026 #SantiaolunFishingPortFishingRegulations Fishing is prohibited inside Santiaolun Fishing Port. According to a notice from the Yunlin County Government, only certain areas along the north and south breakwaters of Santiaolun Fishing Port are open for fishing. Fishing or the use of nets is strictly prohibited in the port waters and surrounding pier areas not officially designated as open. Violators who refuse to comply with the Coast Guard or relevant authorities' orders to leave will be fined between NT$30,000 and NT$150,000 according to the Fishing Port Act. Key Fishing Regulations: Open Areas: Certain areas along the north and south breakwaters (fishing is prohibited inside the port). Closed Periods: Closed when the Central Weather Bureau issues a typhoon warning (sea or land), or when the local average wind speed reaches level 8 and waves reach 6 meters or higher. #Fishing Experience and Reflections At the small sluice gate on the southwest side of San Tiao Lun Fishing Port, you can fish on the other side, the side open to the sea, when the tide is low. During high tide, you fish inside the sluice gate. On the day I went, the tide was about 4/3 high before the bites started to improve. The current was quite strong before the small sluice gate reached full strength, so you could use an ASA (Aqua) float at the tail end of the current. Both float fishing and front casting were suitable. I also saw a large fish on the surface that day, estimated to be at least 50cm long, but unfortunately it had already swum away by the time I saw it. It only resurfaced when I was packing up to go home, so I missed it.
