This is why he was chosen by DC Comics to play Superman, the sexiest and most attractive member of the Justice League. He played the role in the films Man of Steel (in 2013), Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice (in 2016), Justice League (in 2017), and Zack Snyder's Justice League (in 2021), which received critical acclaim and were huge box office hits. However, bringing the Last Son of Krypton to life is no easy task. The Saint Helier native has revealed this on several occasions. Through his social media and various interviews, the Briton revealed the secrets of his success. According to himself and his trainers, this is what you have to do to get the body of Superman. HENRY CAVILL'S TRAINING: Of course, to transform into a superhero, the 1.85 meter tall actor started by lifting weights. But there was something else he used to develop all that muscle: Mark Twight, owner of the Jones Gym in Salt Lake City. Twight's secret is based on a punishing training routine called the Exhaust Pipe. "It's cyclical training with 100 repetitions of each exercise, which will leave you exhausted and without leaving a trace of subcutaneous fat," explained the renowned trainer. The Exhaust Pipe has two basic but effective principles: exercise and recovery. The exercise portion is designed to make you leave everything in the free weight area. The recovery method is to calmly take eight controlled breaths in and out of your nose after finishing an exercise. As for his arms, Cavill showed his more than 16 million Instagram followers the secret to having superhero biceps. What's striking about the post is the weight he was lifting during a curl. Those low-profile weights appeared to be much smaller than those arms could easily carry. But, as the Hollywood star pointed out in the photo he posted, sometimes smaller weights can produce better results. HENRY CAVILL'S DIET: In addition to increasing his time in the gym (up to nine sessions a week), Cavill also had to modify his eating habits to bring Clark Kent to life. The actor followed a high-calorie diet, consuming around 5,000 to 6,000 calories a day in order to gain 10 kilograms of muscle mass. “The first thing I did was significantly increase protein and then carbohydrates gradually. You need to maintain the feeling of hunger,” he said. He only cut back on three things: saturated fats, processed foods, and refined sugar. When consuming a large number of calories, it's important to train enough, or the body will begin to build not only muscle but also body fat. A classic breakfast of his might be scrambled eggs and beef steak, along with a protein-rich oatmeal smoothie. He might then have chicken curry with rice for lunch, an apple for a snack or dessert, and bison steak with brown rice pasta for dinner. Before bed, he drinks a vegetable smoothie. He washes down each meal with a glass of water, a beverage he sips throughout the day to stay hydrated and support his workout routine. In fact, he notes that he drinks about 1 liter of water in the morning due to the thirst he experiences while doing cardio. In addition to this excessive eating, Cavill also forced himself to rest like a true superman: he slept 10 hours a day. Because a superman without rest is just a half-man. Finally, Henry Cavill confessed in another interview that he was overweight as a child. His classmates made fun of him, calling him "Fat Cavill." "Honestly, I don't judge my classmates who made fun of me as a child. Remembering them makes me more grateful for the results I've achieved with the help of strength training.
