How to terminate Sanken COS-11D with TA5 for servo Lectrosonics transmitters! #productionsoundmixer
Here I demonstrate how to terminate a Sanken COS11D lapel microphone to a TA5 connector for use with Lectrosonics transmitters that have a servo input. (This will not work properly for older non-servo transmitters! Check your model to see if yours has a servo input before using this wiring method!) NOTES: 1 - I probably should have used a smaller gauge solder which would have helped me control how much soldering I was applying, I just used what I had. 2 - I probably should have purchased a smaller gauge heat shrink for insulating the ground wires, I just used what I had. 3 - I know that using the Cable Techniques right angle TA5 connectors does not give you the option to ground the shield of the microphone to the shell of the connector directly, BUT I think it still gets grounded when you plug it into the metal body of a transmitter allowing it to also provide some shielding. (Correct me in the comments if this is not the case.) I have not noticed any difference in noise or interference using either of these connectors.
