Fallout is always changing. Much time has passed since the turn-based 2D RPGs, and the series has grown into a huge franchise. And in this video, we'll talk about Power Armor from all the games and the series. The history of its creation, how it changed, and what it is today. Many of these small details have been described by the developers in various guides and books. Although the canonicity of these recordings is being questioned over time, be prepared to learn all the facts about the hallmark of the Fallout world, compiled from all sources. Power armor in the Fallout universe has undergone numerous retcons from game to game, and has subsequently appeared in the TV series. It is a high-tech exoskeleton with armor elements that protect against ballistic, energy, and radiation damage. Power armor is developed by West-Tech, a major US military contractor engaged in strategic defense projects, research, and development of military products. Power Armor Frame: This serves as an exoskeleton housing the armor elements. It first appeared in Fallout 4 as a major retcon, meaning all armor types use a similar frame. Due to the success of the T-45 Power Armor and its d-modification, China continued its countermeasures. During the invasion of China in 2074, the outdated T-45 and T-45d suffered a major setback. Insufficient mobility led to logistical problems, and China resorted to using Gauss rifles and other pulse weapons against power armor. Meanwhile, a more advanced armor—the T-51—was being developed to address the shortcomings of previous models and make them less vulnerable to pulse weapons. Development slowed significantly, but after the failure in China, testing was accelerated, leading to numerous accidents. This was primarily due to the fact that power armor carriers flipped during landing. Because of this, stabilizers and shock absorbers were added to the new model. In 2076, work on the new power armor was finally completed, and it was designated the T-51b. It offered excellent all-round protection, increased strength, and reduced weight, which translates into increased speed. The adaptive design required the armor to be customized for each wearer. A skilled operator was needed to help equip it. It surpassed previous prototypes in every respect and ensured a crushing US victory over China. There were even cases of enemy soldiers surrendering immediately upon seeing this armor. However, this victory was the beginning of the end. The T-51 was later used in occupied Canada, and then within the US, to suppress protests and enforce quarantines amid growing hunger and depleting resources. The prototype was named X-01. The Institute also developed the X-01. Their version of the armor contained a polymer casting mixture and several unknown modifications that ultimately enhanced the user's intelligence. Enclave Armor. In 2198, the Enclave is working on its own power armor technologies, but none surpasses the success of previous versions. In 2215, the attempt was repeated with a new presidential decree, and as a result, in October 2220, a reliable version of Mark I Power Armor, based on the X-01, also known as Advanced Power Armor, was created and entered mass production. It corrected all the critical flaws introduced during pre-war development. Notably, it features a small fan on the back, likely powered by a miniature nuclear reactor. By 2241, it had become part of the Enclave soldier uniform. With the destruction of the Enclave oil rig in 2242 during Fallout 2, production of this armor ceased.
