Liszt - Trauervorspiel und Trauermarsch (S.206) - Cyprien Katsaris Piano
Franz Liszt (22 October 1811 – 31 July 1886) composed this piece in 1885 during a time "Liszt experimented with 'forbidden' things." (Wikipedia) A video I recently watched on YouTube (I think it was called "Why listen to Liszt" or something similar), they used this piece and described it as something Liszt wrote after his father died. Which is technically true, but it was about 57 years later (his father, Adam, died in 1827.) This performance by Cyprien Katsaris was taken from a live interview he did with WGBH Boston in 2009. He later included a studio recording on an album dedicated to Liszt's music. I personally prefer this performance overall to that one, which is why I used it here. He also performed it in 1979 on video. It can be viewed here: • Video Sources: Sheet Music: https://imslp.org/wiki/Trauervorspiel...) Liszt: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_L...
