We all long to belong somewhere. From childhood, we carry the desire to be welcomed, loved, and recognized as part of a family. In this Thursday's Gospel, Matthew 12:46-50, Jesus reveals that there is a belonging even greater than any human bond. By stating that His true family is made up of those who do the Father's will, Christ does not diminish the importance of blood relatives. On the contrary, He broadens our horizons and invites us to enter into a communion that transcends time, differences, and human limitations.
