Paul Rubens Qiaomei vs Meilaing "Pretty Excellent Tube Watercolor Showdown!

Today we are going to take a lot at two brand new sets of tube watercolors from the Paul Rubens paint company. These tube paint sets correspond to the pan sets of the same name so these tube paints can be used to refill the pans when you run out. Both sets are affordable, and some of the color numbers match but are they the same? In this video, we will swatch out the colors with the same numbers and compare the quality so if you are trying to choose between the two sets you can make an informed decision. In the first corner we have the beloved Meiliang set of 36 paints: Tube version: https://amzn.to/3QYARoP Pan Version (This is my budget watercolor recommendation for the last 7 years!) https://amzn.to/3SXfJ56 In the 2nd corner, we have the newcomer Qiaomei watercolor set of 24 watercolors: Tube Version: https://amzn.to/3T89Dz3 Pan Version: https://amzn.to/3GlQUbn Both of the tube sets are the same price currently but you actually get more paint in the 24-tube set of Qiaomei watercolors because the tubes are 12ml and the Meiliange/pretty excellent tubes are only 5ml. I also think the Qiaomei tube watercolors are a better quality making the 24 set of tube paints a no-brainer (and the clear winner) in my opinion. https://amzn.to/3T89Dz3 If you asked me which pan set I favor I would have to pick the pretty Excellent set of 36 though. I think the color selection is more versatile and the earth tones are richer. The 36 pan set is slightly better quality than the 36 tube counterpart in my opinion as the tube paints seemed to have a small amount of scaling in some colors that is not present in the pan version. Also the 36 color Meiliang/pretty excellent set is about $8 cheaper than the 24 Qiaomei set. Even though the Qiaomei pan set is of slightly higher quality I think the value and versatility of the 36 Meiliange set makes it the clear winner. https://amzn.to/3SXfJ56 That said, any of these sets are worth the money in my opinion.
