NFI Xcelsior CNG Buses in Brooklyn & The Bronx

Seen here are the Bronx and Brooklyn divisions’ CNG Xcelsior models, the XN40 & XN60. The MTA’s most recent CNG order spans two years, 2016 - 2018, and is comprised of two compressed natural gas variants of New Flyer’s Xcelsior family of buses. The 40ft buses were delivered from late 2016 to mid 2017, while the 60ft batch came throughout most of 2018, with a pilot bus coming in late 2017. The XN40’s are numbered 673 to 810, and the XN60’s are 1000 to 1109. Both orders were split evenly between the Brooklyn and Bronx divisions. - - XN40 - Cummins Westport ISL G engine w/ a ZF 6AP1400B transmission. XN60 - Cummins Westport ISL G NZ engine w/ a ZF 6AP1700B transmission.
