Bagua Zhang - 1980’s Beijing - Sun Jianyun Found this clip circulating on Chinese social media. Produced probably in about 1982-1984 or so during the kung-fu fever time that the movie Shaolin Temple caused when many such promotional documentaries were being made. What is of interest is Sun Jianyun doing a rather lively performance of Bagua Zhang. Although they state those girls as being her "students" they are actually early generation Beijing Wushu Team athletes. Other interesting points in the video is seeing an old friend of mine, Kong Xiangdong, who has been the Japan national Taiji/Taichi team coach for well over a decade now, except he is a 13-year old boy here. He too was a member of the Beijing Wushu Team. Liu Jingru's closest disciple, Han Yanwu, and his twin brother, Han Yanming, are also featured in a performance that is presented like a free fight. Bonus points to anyone who recognizes the "referee" in the video.
