Sauerstoff, die "CNS-Clock" und die neuen Empfehlungen

Everyone in the Nitrox course knows about the risks of oxygen toxicity and the limits. If you adhere to the MOD (Model Diving Regulations) and respect the "CNS table" or the CNS percentage displayed on your dive computer, you're safe. And that's true. But what empirical basis are these recommendations based on? It's far from as solid as commonly assumed. For our normal dives, they work well enough that there's no reason to modify them. But in a specific area—extremely long rebreather dives and very long decompression stops—the limits for a pO2 of 1.3 bar are too low. Therefore, there are new recommendations for this specific value. To help you understand these, we'll explain the different forms of oxygen toxicity, why it's problematic to put them in a table, and then provide an overview of the new recommendation.
