Bei der manuellen Spindel muss das Werkzeug und die Spannzange von Hand getauscht werden, was am aufwändigsten ist. Beim halbautomatischen Wechsel wird nicht das Werkzeug sondern die Werkzeugaufnahme von Hand eingewechselt, was schon deutlich schneller ist. Bei der Spindel mit vollautomatischen Werkzeugwechsel wird das Werkzeug über den pneumatischen Kegelwechsel gewechselt, was gleichzeitig auch die schnellste Form des Werkzeugwechsels ist.
