La Covacha 2019 - 4K

Ascent to Covacha del Losar, the highest peak in the area and, in dispute with Calvitero, the highest peak in the province of Cáceres. Starting from the Tornavacas pass (1275 meters) and passing several giant cairns typical of the area, we reach the high cairn at 2164 meters. From there, we can see the entire ridge of Covacha with its imposing crest. To reach the summit, we must traverse the entire ridge, which is relatively easy, with some sections requiring the use of hands, ice axes, and crampons. The total elevation gain is around 1400 meters, covering a distance of 26 to 28 kilometers depending on whether the route is along a track or a trail. The day's activity is strenuous, requiring good stamina and fitness, as it takes between 7 and 10 hours.
