That reaction is what this book is about. I'm Sam, I'm the founder of Taboo Education, a death literacy company here in Aus. You may have seen my mug on YouTube or at one of our many presentations, workshops or keynotes around Australia. We've spent the past six years talking to millions of people about death, death anxiety and the things nobody wants to say out loud. And I am taking Taboo Education's frank and witty style and creating a book! With the working title of 'But It Would Never Happen To Me: Death Throughout the Lifespan', it combines life stories from famous Brits and Aussies with psychological and historical insight, to explore how death intersects with life throughout the entire lifespan, shaping our feelings of death anxiety or acceptance. Now, getting a hold of these stories requires flexibility. Because these conversations are highly personal, and the book will be narrative nonfiction, they need to happen face to face. And because I don't live in the fun, fabulous and importantly, famous side of the country, that means travelling interstate within Australia and to the UK to sit down with each interviewee properly. Your donation goes straight into that research phase: travel, transcription and legal necessities, so the manuscript proposal is ready for publishers once the research is complete.
