MP76-34 NEW FILM TRANSFER -The President’s Vacation Cruises Aboard the USS Williamsburg
These silent home movies show two of President Harry S. Truman's vacation cruises aboard the USS Williamsburg. The first cruise, 16 August - 2 September 1946, shows scenes aboard the presidential yacht USS Williamsburg on the Chesapeake River, Delaware Canal, in Quonset, RI, and Bermuda. The second cruise, 17 November - 23 November 1946, shows President Harry S. Truman's visit to Key West, a submarine base there, fishing, and a visit to the Dry Tortugas aboard a destroyer. The producer and copyright status of this film is unknown, though it has the same look as other US Navy film in the collection and is likely Navy footage given its context. Users are encouraged to research the copyright for themselves. Please credit: Harry S. Truman Library. This film is part of the Motion Picture series at the Truman Library.
