In 1974, he was appointed president of Mercedes Benz in Argentina. In 1977, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Nürburgring, he took part in the Fifth International Race for Historic Racing and Sports Cars, known as the "Remembrance Parade," with the Mercedes-Benz W196 R.
