Since the anniversary of this concert is approaching, I felt it was appropriate to upload. Please pardon the shruthi variations. Without a doubt, TNS sir brings the best of Indian Classical Music. His vast repertoire, breathtaking brigas, spellbinding speed, cerebral imagination, impressive innovation and total surrender to tradition and immersion to the musical artform are all here for everyone to enjoy. When he was at his prime, he was breathtaking. Those who got to see him live during his heyday including yours truly were soaked in fantastic music. Here, we get a concert from his early days, where he renders a mixture of rare and well known krithis from kAmbhOji to kAmbhOji. What is evident is the gurubhakti and brilliance he brings to each of them. Not content with what he's done, he takes it to another gear, leaving us in awe. Listen to the swaraprastara in cAmaram and kalyANi which sounds so modern to our ears, both rAgam and layam wise. I will let you rasikas highlight the rest of the magical moments in the comments section. M Chandarasekaran sir is always a delight to listen to and his mellifluous play never gets old. His zest for life and music is so attracting that we can't control ourselves from saying "sabhaash!, balE!" and other exclamations. His responses are ravishing. Whenever he combines with TNS sir, the results are fantastic and captivating. It is as if they are made for each other. MC sir always nails everything TNS sir does. My pranAms to the legend. As for Yella garu, whether he plays on a kappi or kutchi mridangam, no additional words are enough to describe his masterful, maverick play. As a child prodigy, he has seen and done it all. He has a solid sishya parampara which include TR Sundaresan and Neti Ramakrishna, the latter of whom I have been fortunate to see twice. Those who were fortunate to attend were truly blessed and I kindly request them to share their reminiscences. Those who are listening for the first time, please share your thoughts.
