Cat's Eyes Lace Stitch: a Knittycat's Knits Tutorial

Video tutorial of the Cat’s Eyes Lace Stitch. This is a beautiful lace stitch that produces an airy lace fabric, perfect for a light shawl or a Spring scarf. Cat’s eyes lace stitch pattern (traditional stitch; stitch is worked on a multiple of 4 stitches; pattern is a 4-row repeat; level: advanced beginner or intermediate): Abbreviations: K=knit; P=purl; P2Tog=purl 2 stitches together; RS=right side; st=stitch; WS=wrong side; YO=yarn over. Cast on a multiple of 4 st using any cast-on method of your choice (I typically use the long-tail cast-on method; video link to that technique is below). You can use regular needles; you don’t need double-pointed needles; I like using them for my demos (: Row 1 (RS): *K4, YO twice. Rep from * to last 4 st, then K4 Row 2 (WS): P2, P2Tog, *P into 1st YO st, K into 2nd YO st, P2Tog twice. Rep from * to last 6 st, then P into 1st YO st, K into 2nd YO st, P2Tog, P2. Row 3: K2, YO, *K4, YO twice. Rep from * to last 6 st, then K4, YO, K2. Row 4: P3, *P2Tog twice, P into 1st YO st, K into 2nd YO st. Rep from * to last 7 st, then P2Tog twice, P3. Repeat Rows 1-4 for the Cat’s Eyes Lace Stitch Pattern. When done knitting, end on Row 4 and then cast off using regular bind off or any bind-off method of your choice. If the lace fabric scrunches up a bit, you can block it to lay flat (typically, this fabric does not scrunch up as much) Helpful video links: Cast on (long-tail method):    • How to do long tail cast on: Knittycat's K...   Figuring out gauge:    • How to cast off stitches: a Knittycat's Kn...   Other lace stitch patterns for intermediate/advanced beginners: Milanese Lace Stitch:    • Lacy Zigzag Stitch: a Knittycat's Knits tu...   Lace Horseshoe Stitch:    • Lace Horseshoe Stitch: a Knittycat's Knits...   English Mesh Lace Stitch:    • English Mesh Lace Stitch: a Knittycat's Kn...   Questions or suggestions?
