I've done a bunch in the past for medleys, but never gave them the full cover treatment. This song is probably one of the greatest overworld themes of all time. I never got to give a take on the last bits of the song and always had a good idea of what I'd do with it. I'm also a huge sucker for the chord that the chorus opens up on so it was really fun going all in on this. One thing I thought was particularly interesting about the shoot is that because of the two tone of the Arctic Dream Majesty guitar, it looks like I have two seperate guitars for leads, but that's the same guitar just from a different angle! Really happy to have that guitar back so that the guitar John Petrucci gave me can remain safe in my studio. A lot of people on my streams have been asking why I don't do medleys as much any more and why I'm doing full songs like this of ones I've done before. Medleys are usually impossible to license for distribution on stores like Spotify and iTunes, and since that's a big source of my income, I can't justify all of that work for a song I won't make nearly as much on unfortunately. It takes almost 4 times as long to make a full medley than a single song cover like this one. Plus, I always get comments from people saying they want a full cover of specific songs on all the medleys I do, so I'm just kind of assuming this era of FamilyJules is more or less dedicated to those requests!
