Randy Johnson was the story from start to finish — seven innings, nine strikeouts, one earned run — taking home Player of the Game honors in his home ballpark. Billy Wagner closed it for the Beasts, and Miguel Cabrera provided the big swing with a home run and an RBI. Dustin Pedroia and Larry Walker each contributed a run in a Beasts win. For the Boomers, Jeff Bagwell homered and Tony Gwynn went 1-for-2 with a double, but it wasn't enough against the Big Unit. Lee Smith took the loss out of the bullpen.
