But today, we are heading back into the jungle to address the absolute elephant in the room. For the last few months, the community consensus has basically been "Aztecs or bust." Their low-tier scaling was unpunishable, and their late-game boards were completely out of control. But with the seasonal rank grind officially restructured and other factions getting massive tempo boosts, we have to look at the board today and ask the ultimate question: Can Xochi's Aztecs still compete in this hyper-aggressive meta, or has the sun finally set on the empire? 🩸 The Strategy: Rituals, Sacrifices, and the 6-Unit Altar If you are trying to pilot Aztecs in the current high-rank lobbies, you can't just mindlessly click cards anymore. You have to play around the exact math of the Ritual and Sacrifice triggers on your 6-unit board: The Tier 2 Hyper-Roll Test: We test if the classic strategy of staying low at Tier 2 to force gold copies of Coyotl and Elder Huehuetl can still stop a high-tempo Pirate or Goblin deck in its tracks. Coyotl needs to get those attack blessings early, or he just becomes fodder. Quantity Over Quality: We are testing out a "Wide Base Card" approach—avoiding early triples on our frontline to maximize the total number of Sacrifice triggers. More bodies hitting the graveyard means our Blood Altar fills up at double the speed.
