The ETS2 & ATS Paradox, The Cost of Progress

Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator are caught in a strange paradox. For many years, there where two important elements that kept these games alive. SCS Software constant updates, map dlc expansions, gameplay improvements and everything else we have received as updates since the games released. The Mods. This community built on top of the foundation the base game offered, adding graphic mods, truck mods, map mods. Passionate creators who poured their time to make our experience better. In theory, both things are essential to the ETS2 and ATS future. But every now and then, they end up hurting each other, and us the players keep having to go through that cycle again and again. The constant updates we need to keep these decade old games alive often end up breaking the mods that define the experience for so many players. In this video, I talk about the love-hate relationship between ETS2 & ATS updates and mods, the growing update frequency, free vs paid mods, and why players often feel stuck in the middle.
