In this video, I try to do more than just show you the notes and rhythms. I'll give you some musical advice on how to actually be able to play songs like this. Starting slow, being comfortable with triplet subdivisions, and using a metronome are all requisites to playing this well. If this is your first slap tune, it may take you a long while to get it up to speed with any accuracy. Be patient and don't let yourself get sloppy out of laziness or frustration. This video will also demystify why the intro sounds so weird when the drums come in! (4:3 polyrhythms, bro) Be patient with your slap technique! And if you're just starting, Higher Ground isn't really a great "beginner" song, it's too fast and complicated.
