Brief Analysis of Newtech Gym Machines
What are Newtech gym machines like? Well, I recently tried a few of them and found some to be great, and others not so great. Really enjoyed the Newtech Machine Adduction / Abduction as the ability to recline the seat adds great enables nice variations in the exercise. The Shoulder Press was nice and has good handle adjustability. The Newtech Leg Extension has all this nice adjustability on it, however the resistance profile really lets it down. I did a rough measurement throughout the range with 10KG on the weight stack. At the bottom of the range it was 10KG's then went up to between 13-15KG's all the way at the top (depending how far you finish your reps). The measurements were by no means done perfectly, but the numbers line up with how it feels doing the exercise. You can certainly feel resistance increase towards the short end, which will encourage people to throw the weight up, rather than control it. The lying leg curl was similar in that it just didn't drop off in resistance where you need it. The Row and Pulldown both also had nice adjustability and variation options, however the resistance increased too much at the short end of the range. This video is by no means a complete analysis, it's just to give you a picture of what is going on with resistance profiles and how well they match our ability to produce strength. There are still many more Newtech Machines I'm keen to try in future. I really like that they've put time into adjustability on their machines, as you can fit them to different client goals and needs. As always let me know your thoughts!
