SCOTLAND TELLS PM MAKE T&TEC CLAIM OUTSIDE PARLIAMENT

The political temperature has reached a boiling point in Trinidad and Tobago. Following explosive allegations made by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar in the House of Representatives, Port of Spain South MP Keith Scotland has issued a direct challenge to the Prime Minister. In a heated exchange, the Prime Minister accused Mr. Scotland’s law chambers of professional negligence, fraudulent misrepresentation, and breach of contract regarding a $2.3 million T&TEC debt recovery case involving Flavourite Foods Limited. Mrs. Persad-Bissessar further alleged that a “secret list” of protected individuals and entities shielded certain parties from electricity disconnections, sparking calls for investigations by the Police Fraud Squad and the Anti-Corruption Investigation Bureau (ACIB). Speaking to reporters outside the Red House, Keith Scotland hit back, slamming the Prime Minister’s statements as “egregious attacks” made under the protection of Parliamentary privilege. He is now calling on the Prime Minister to repeat these claims outside of Parliament, where they would not be shielded from potential legal action.
