Wie man eine Pfeife aufarbeitet + Deckel vernickeln

I had bought an old, used, smoked, capped pipe on eBay. Nothing special, just a simple passatore with a black lacquer finish. The cap was rusted, and the metal was already a bit chipped. I love capped pipes, and this one was not only affordable but also just right for my restoration. First, I removed the cap and soaked it in vinegar to loosen the rust. I soaked the mouthpiece in alcohol to disinfect it. Then I started on the pipe bowl. I didn't like the lacquer on the pipe, so I tried to remove it. My first idea was to heat the lacquer with a heat gun to remove it. However, the lacquer turned out to be heat-resistant. Since I wanted to work without chemicals, I had no choice but to sand the pipe bowl. I also completely sanded the cap of the pipe and polished it with a Dremmel drill. The mouthpiece was disinfected and polished. The pipe was cleaned and scraped with a pipe reamer. The pipe bowl was then stained dark brown with mordant. I polished the pipe bowl to a high shine with carnauba wax on my polishing machine. Then came the real adventure: the electroplating. I built my own electroplating system from a jam jar and two strips of nickel sheet (nickel anodes). Vinegar and salt were poured into the jar, and the anodes were charged with electricity using an old cell phone charger.
