Tifton 85 Costal Bermuda - 2nd Hay Cutting
The second hay cutting after planting Tifton 85 Bermudagrass sprigs one year ago in July increased from almost 3 bales per acre to 4 bales per acre. Following the initial sprigging, bare spots required additional attention, as well as weed management and optimal timing for fertilizing before cutting. Adequate rainfall provided the moisture needed, and we continue to be delighted with the results. Yes, Akin Farm highly recommends planting Tifton 85 in West Central Georgia. It's the best hay we have ever grown and stored in our barn for the winter months ahead.
