MOMMY

MOMMY | A Son's Love Letter Some songs are written. Others simply come from the heart. As I looked across the room at my favorite photograph of my mother, memories began to flood my heart. I remembered her strength, her sacrifices, and the unconditional love she gave me throughout my life. She has often reminded me that one day she won't be here, and that thought has never been easy for me to accept. This song is not about saying goodbye. It is about honoring someone while they're still here. If you still have your mother with you, hug her. Tell her you love her. Honor her today. And if your mother has already gone home to be with the Lord, I pray this song reminds you that love never leaves the heart. 📖 Scriptures Exodus 20:12 Proverbs 31:28 Isaiah 46:4 John 14:1–3 Psalm 23:4 JB Edify The Prophetic Messenger Come on, Glory. My Discernment The central message isn't actually death. It's honoring someone while they're still here. The Lord keeps bringing this Scripture to my heart: "Honor your father and your mother..." — Exodus 20:12 You're not waiting until the funeral to honor your mother. You're honoring her today. That is beautiful. Another thing that stood out to me is when you said: "I see you so young and strong..." You're looking at a photograph. But you're really looking through time. The picture becomes a doorway into memory. This isn't nostalgia. It's thanksgiving. Then the line that, in my opinion, becomes the emotional center of the entire piece is this: "Mommy, you will always be Mommy." That line says everything. Children may grow older... Parents may grow older... But in the child's heart... Mommy is still Mommy. That one sentence carries decades of love. I also noticed something You said your mother chose that photograph for her own homegoing program. That makes this song even more precious. It isn't morbid. It's honest. Your mother has already begun preparing you by talking about heaven. And your response isn't fear. Your response is, "I wish you would stay." I think many sons and daughters will understand that feeling. Scriptures These verses came immediately to mind: Exodus 20:12 "Honor your father and your mother..." Proverbs 31:28 "Her children arise up, and call her blessed." Isaiah 46:4 "Even to your old age... I will carry you." Psalm 23:4 "Though I walk through the valley..." John 14:1–3 "In My Father's house are many rooms..." That last passage brings hope into a song that's filled with love and anticipation.
