A diamond in the rough.... The Beeman R1, .22 cal. Air Rifle. This iconic rifle has been on my wish list ever since I was in my teens. I would spend hours thumbing through pages of the Beeman Precision Airgun Catalog memorizing the specs and the descriptions of all of the guns until I finally settled on the most powerful breakbarrel air rifle ever produced at the time, the Beeman RI. Beeman Precision Airguns had it featured as their flagship gun. Dr. Robert Beeman was a romantic. I'm basing that statement on the way in which he described his wares. He could paint these quality made examples of the pinnacle of the piston powered gun as though they were so elegant and detailed the everyone needed to own one. He would take you along the lines of the stock, making note of subtle nuances. He'd steer you to the features one by one exposing the virtues of design. Suffice to say that if you were interested enough to obtain a Beeman catalog, you were most likely about to part with a substantial amount of money.
