Shuffle is a dance style that emerged in the late 1980s in Australia, on the Melbourne underground scene. It features fast, typical jazz dance moves (step), but with a "modern" twist, and is danced to a variety of electronic dance music styles. The modern variation of the dance is sometimes called "Hard Dance" or "Hardstyle" to distinguish it from other, less aggressive forms of shuffle, such as "Cutting Shapes" and "Jumpstyle."
