Claudia Turbet: de migrante boliviana a concejal en Londres | Política y migración en UK
In this Tuesday's discussion, we are joined by Claudia Turbet, a councilor in Hackney (London), a Bolivian immigrant, and a tireless advocate for the rights of the Latin community in the United Kingdom. Her story begins in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, where from a young age she learned the value of work, resilience, and organization. She migrated to the United Kingdom seeking safety and better opportunities for her son, facing family separation, precarious employment, complex immigration processes, and moments of profound vulnerability. Today, from her position in British local politics, Claudia works for immigration regularization, access to decent housing, labor rights, education, and Latin representation in positions of power. In this episode we discuss: Latin American migration to the UK Institutional racism and the immigration system Community work and unionism Local politics in London Labor rights and housing Bolivian identity abroad The Latin community in the UK A powerful conversation about social justice, dignity, and the role of migrants in British politics.
