Primarily for metalworking, but i was amazed at how many other uses i found it perfect for. It became a great tool rest, part holder, heavy weight, and more. As for a metal working sandbag it's great. One of the many tools that is needed to make complex compound curves with flat metal parts. The sandbag itself is made of scrap leather, double stitched and filled with sand from my yard. It wasn't expensive to make, although just buying a bag isn't that expensive either.
