Occuper l’Allemagne 1918-1930

November 1918. The First World War ends. But peace is not yet at hand. Defeated Germany sees the arrival of Allied troops across the entire left bank of the Rhine. The Rhineland is occupied by the enemy, even though the country has never known war on its soil. French soldiers, who are the largest contingent, settle in the conquered country. They patrol the streets, impose their law, and even go so far as to requisition coal from the Ruhr. This occupation will last nearly twelve years. Twelve years of occupation during which France's image will gradually reverse in the eyes of international opinion. Twelve years of tension, which ended in 1930 in a Weimar Republic threatened by the economic crisis and the activism of Hitler's supporters.
