1952 Benny Goodman - If I Had You (instrumental)
1952 Benny Goodman with Strings - If I Had You (instrumental) A cover of "If I Had You" for Goodman's 1952 album "Let's Hear The Melody." This was not released commercially on 78, as the album was only issued on LP, EP, or 45, and so these radio station copies are probably all there is in terms of 78s. "If I Had You" was written in 1928, and had hit covers by Al Bowlly (recorded November 28th, 1928) and Rudy Vallée (recorded January 10th, 1929). Other covers were later recorded by Frank Sinatra, Connie Francis, Dean Martin, the Platters, and Willie Nelson. Recorded on March 5th, 1952 in Los Angeles, California. This record was released sometime around May of 1952. Transferred from 78-rpm Columbia with matrix number RHCO 10142. The flip side "Moonglow" can also be heard on my channel here: • 1951 Benny Goodman - Moonglow (instrumental)
