Kuhn GA8731+ Windrower: Presentation and User Feedback After 1 Year of Use Hello, today I'm presenting the KUHN GA8731+. This is a windrower that we acquired for the farm but only started using this year (2025). Here's our initial feedback after the first year. It's a twin-rotor, center-delivery windrower with a width between 7.70 and 8.60 meters, producing a windrow approximately 1.40 to 2.30 meters wide. Based on our experience, we're generally satisfied because we're wider than before, and the main advantage of this windrower is that it's less than 4 meters high for transport without having to remove any of the arms. This is a real plus for us, as we operate in a sector with a lot of traffic, essentially driving in urban areas. The second positive point about this pickup is that, broadly speaking, it's quite simple. A single-acting mechanism to lift the header, a double-acting mechanism to adjust the width. So that's straightforward. In the cab, we have a control that allows us to manage the unlocking and also select whether or not to use a rotor. Thanks to this, we can work with a rotor on only one side or both, depending on the conditions, like in this example where we worked with a single rotor. That's another advantage of this pickup. We're happy because it's quite simple in terms of its kinematics. There are three universal joints: a main one that connects to an angle drive, which then connects to each side, all with permanently lubricated blocks. So that's quite practical; no oil changes to do, just lubrication. This year, we were able to use it in hay, in wilted hay for silage, and also in aftermath. So, it's good; it worked well in all conditions. We appreciated, in a manner of speaking, the six-wheel system which allows for good ground following. The crank handle is quite easy to adjust for height and provides a good indication. The only drawback is that when in the widest position, it's not used as much as it could be because the wide position creates a swath, and the tractor rolls over the crop, which isn't always lifted. So that's rather negative. Also, when the swath is very wide, it's more difficult to gather the entire swath with the baler. So, sometimes it's better to use the wider setting in certain conditions. ----------------------------------- Music Alternate - Vibe Tracks
