We do this by finding their distance from each other and in reference to our control points. This is also true for all 10 foot off set points. By finding the coordinates in Northing and Easting, we can then upload these coordinates to our data collector to begin staking. Part 2 – Field Construction Staking We begin by setting up our control network. In this video, I just used a measuring tape and pulled 55 feet from an arbitrary location. I placed a new stake in the ground for this point. We set up our instrument on our first point and a prism rod on our second point to back sight. After establishing our baseline, we then have the data collector tell us to move right or left of the total station, and in and out of the total station. This will pinpoint the location of our points. We place a stake in the ground and go to the next point until we complete all our points.
