Romans 15:22–29 Sermon, The Gospel Cannot Stop With You

The Gospel reached you so it could move through you. Romans 15:22–29 shows Paul’s holy ambition to keep going where Christ had not yet been named. Paul wanted to go to Rome, but the mission kept pulling him forward. There were still people who had not heard. There were still places where the name of Jesus was not known. In this sermon from Life Church New Braunfels, Randy walks through Paul’s missionary heart and challenges the church to stop treating Christianity like a religious customer experience. The Gospel did not travel across nations so we could complain about temperature, worship style, or personal preferences. The Gospel reached us so we would carry it into our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces, city, and nations. This message breaks down three marks of Gospel ambition: Gospel ambition keeps looking for people who have not heard. Gospel ambition needs people who will send. Gospel ambition turns blessing into generosity. Paul reminds us that mission is not only for elite Christians or professional missionaries. Every believer has a part. Some go, some send, some pray, some give, some host, some invite, some share their story, but everyone participates. Randy also gives a culture update on the Brazil homeschooling case, where parents were sentenced for homeschooling their daughters, and why Christians must understand that someone is always discipling the next generation. Discipleship cannot be outsourced. It must begin in the home and move outward from there.
