But instead of stringing colonies together to build a vast stellar empire, we're traveling the galaxy as nomads. That's exactly what the latest DLC for Paradox's sci-fi game Stellaris allows us to do. We don't start with a home planet, but with a gigantic ark-ship that functions as a colony but can move from one system to another. We didn't leave our homeworld voluntarily. Our civilization fell victim to a supernova. Before, we were the controversial masters of the space surrounding us. Other races trembled before us. Our military could break them, our capable intelligence service exposed any resistance to our rule. But with our homeworld, the source of our power was lost. Now, our once proud people travel through space as supplicants, trying to maintain the last vestiges of their dignity. This Let's Play is presented as a role-playing game. Our decisions must be in keeping with our people or arise organically from the situation. The focus is not on a perfect run, but on experiencing a believable story.
