If Christ Is In You Part 2

In this second installment on Romans 8:9-11, Pastor Robert McNutt of New Covenant Church examines the contrast in verse 10: "the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness." After recapping the believer's benefits as one indwelt by and belonging to Christ, he argues that "body" here means the physical frame, not the fallen nature, and that this body remains a dying instrument of sin since Adam's fall brought death to all. Yet the believer's spirit, regenerated and made alive by Christ, possesses eternal life here and now, secured by the righteousness of Christ both imputed and imparted. Drawing on Romans 5 and 6, Ephesians 2, and the "tent" imagery of 2 Corinthians 4-5, McNutt frames the Christian's condition as "already, but not yet": the spirit is fully saved while the body still groans for redemption. The practical charge is to watch, pray, and keep fighting sin until mortality puts on immortality, all of it grounded in grace through faith in Christ's finished work. https://www.sermonaudio.com/sermons/5...
