Payne Theological Seminary was honored to welcome The Right Reverend Stafford J.N. Wicker as the Commencement Speaker for the 133rd Commencement Ceremony celebrating the Class of 2026. Bishop Wicker serves as the 137th elected and consecrated Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and is the Presiding Prelate of the Third Episcopal District, encompassing Ohio, West Virginia, and Western Pennsylvania. Throughout his ministry, he has distinguished himself as a visionary leader, advocate for social justice, champion of economic empowerment, and builder of thriving faith communities. A graduate of Wilberforce University and Turner Theological Seminary, Bishop Wicker has faithfully served congregations and episcopal districts across the United States and Southern Africa. His leadership has been marked by church growth, community development, financial stewardship, and a steadfast commitment to transforming lives through the Gospel.
