Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 that the final enslaved Black slaves in America learned they were free over two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. President Patrick Jackson of the NAACP Bakersfield and President Blaine Richard of the Kern County Black Chamber of Commerce joined us to explain the history of Juneteenth and its importance to the community. 17 News at Sunrise
